Ah...I've been kinda out of the loop since I got back from NYC....and now it's only 5 days until Xmas~ What happened?? Anyways, NYC was really cool....It was my first time so I mostly had my head craned backwards and my mouth hanging open (sorry native new yorkers, I was pretty touristy on this first trip.) I learned lots of things about New York; the bagels really are very good, it's very cold in december there, new york is host to a healthy ninja community, and cabbies reaaally hate tourists.
AND I GOT TO SEE THE INOUE MURAL!! HOORAY FOR INOUE-SENSEI!!! (bow before my super original photo of the mural!)
...you can really see the artist's hand in the piece....
There was so much to look at and do and so many neat places to visit....that I almost forgot about that con I was supposed to go to...what was it? Oh yes, the New York Anime Festival. I did spend a little bit of time there. Tokyopop was promoting their english version of the Gothic Lolita Bible with lots of stuff for lolitas to do: high tea, photo ops on wooden benches with cascading fake roses and the like, a fashion show to take a gander at...it was neat. I didn't really participate, although I did dress as a lolita to help a friend promote her now open
Baroquendoll homepage. I met loads of nice people at the signings and lots of super nice artists, too (some for a second time around) like
Maximo,
Svetlana,
Amy,
Jo, and lets not forget the super awesome folks at
Lime Manga! (so happy to finally meet them in person) And...I still need to say hi again to most of them...(I suck) Obviously the past week and a half sorta slipped away without me realizing it. Annnnd now I've got loads of work to do.
